At a regular meeting of the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Social Policy, Minister of Health T.Munkhsaikhan briefed on the measures being taken to expand active surveillance of target groups as part of the response to coronavirus infection.

He said, “We have doubled the capacity of the NCCD and the NCCD, which are conducting PCR analysis in Ulaanbaatar, and established a new target group monitoring laboratory at the National Center for Public Health. This allows for continuous surveillance of planned public transport, trade and services, banking, hospitals, pharmacies, health facilities, military units, nursing homes, and prisons.

From today, the monitoring of these laboratories will be carried out according to the schedule of the employees of the enterprises mentioned above, operating in Ulaanbaatar during the quarantine period.

The establishment of aimag and district general hospitals and testing laboratories with border crossings is proceeding according to plan. Laboratories for molecular biology or PCR analysis in Khentii, Khuvsgul, Uvurkhangai, Uvs, Arkhangai, Bayan-Ulgii, and Umnugovi aimags have provided funding and preparations.

Also, the number of influenza-like illness surveillance points in Mongolia has been expanded from 150 to 170, and Covid-19 has been monitored under this system. In Ulaanbaatar, 20 new points were established in addition to the previous ones. Work has begun to test 70,000 people in the Bayanzurkh district and has so far tested 6,000 people. A total of 406,075 people have been tested at the capital city and local diagnostic points.

To prevent nosocomial infections and prevent physicians from becoming infected, special attention is being paid to reorganization, increased supervision, retraining, and work coordination based on workplace risk assessments. The hospital is also cooperating with health organizations to provide advice and guidance on how to prevent the spread of infection from the outside, inside and outside. ”
